Grocery store

On Susak there are only two grocery stores: bigger Market near the harbor and tiny Saita in narrow alleys of the lower village.

Despite a more difficult supply chain both shops are surprisingly well stocked. While the small shop Saita is focused on household necessities in bigger Market you can also find a non-essential items such as scuba-diving masks, beach toys etc…

Although both shops do sell meat, the selection and quantity is very limited. If you find any fish it will probably be frozen fish fingers. If you want fresh local fish look for local fisherman.

Prices are a bit higher than the on the mainland or even in Mali Lošinj. This is more so with prices of vegetables and other items which spoil quickly.

Shopping in Mali Lošinj

Due to higher prices and poor selection of goods people tend to do a one-day shopping trip to Mali Lošinj.

On Mali Lošinj you can find a few larger supermarkets, a fish market and a butchers shop. Prices are similar to ones on the mainland (thank you Lidl), which makes shopping there very affordable.

You can do the one-day shopping by catching the morning boat ride to Mali Lošinj. The boat stays in Lošinj for a few hours which leaves enough time to visit stores even on foot.

Buying non-food items

Except for light bulbs of fuses, which are available in the local shops, most hardware items or tools one has to go to Mali Lošinj. In Mali Lošinj there are also two petrol stations, repair shop for outboard motors, a fish market, supermarkets and a lot more.
